Intstructor - Eve Holzman

Eve Sage is a local Boston photographer and designer who was born and raised in New York, where she fell in love with photography and exploring interesting subjects from behind the camera. While studying at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University, she experimented with alternative photo-printing processes and has been deeply interested in trying new printing methods since. From studying photography in London for 5 months to taking ceramics courses in college, Eve loves learning new art forms and is always looking to find new ways to express herself.

Class Description

This workshop is a hands-on experience in the entire cyanotype process, from blank paper to finished beautiful blue prints. One of the first photographic processes ever developed, cyanotypes (also known as blueprints or sunprints) allow individuals to create unique prints from natural and/or found objects. Using light-sensitive chemicals and objects like leaves, flowers, lace, jewelry and more, this workshop is perfect for beginners, and anyone interested in alternative photographic processes. Leave with 5-10 unique prints and a deeper appreciation for the beauty of natural light and texture!

Class Goals

- Students will learn about photographic printing without a camera and how to bring images alive without technology

- Students will get an in-depth overview of the history of cyanotypes and alternative photo-printing methods

- Students will walk away with 5-10 unique prints for themselves or others, and will be confident in making their own cyanotypes at home

- Students can also learn about advanced cyanotype printing and toning their prints if desired
