Woodworking is a rewarding hobby but can be daunting when you’re just starting out. Stories of injuries from power tools, projects gone wrong, and expensive materials keep many people from getting into this hobby. We hope to help you get past, or avoid, these hazards by teaching you how to make a functional and attractive serving board.

This is an entry level class introducing the basics of woodworking with power tools through making a serving tray. It is intended for people who have little to no experience in woodworking but have a strong interest in learning more and are looking for an opportunity to gain confidence in the woodshop.

In this class participants will learn; things to consider when designing a project; how to measure, mark, and cut wood; gluing, sanding, and finishing wood. Each step of the project will start with instruction on how to use each tool and then demonstrated by an instructor. Each participant will perform each step work on their own pieces with assistance as needed. At the end of the class you can take the serving board home.

All materials and supplies needed are included in the cost of the class.

Please note: because wood glue takes time to dry this class has two parts. In the first session the pieces will be cut and glued together. In the second session the board will be sanded and finished.
