Overview

Get the basics on how to use the tools in our Wood Shop and make a cheeseboard in this introductory class!

In Introduction to Woodturning, students will learn how to safely and effectively operate a wood lathe, with hands-on practice using a variety of turning tools, including both steel and carbide, with a focus on spindle turning techniques. The class will also cover how to properly use centers and drivers, mandrels, and chucks. By the end of the course, students will have completed a full safety check on the lathe and gained foundational skills for confident, safe turning.
