About this event

Intro to the Myth of Tea Workshop

Step into a sensory exploration of tea and its many stories. This immersive workshop invites you to build a personal and meaningful connection with the tea plant, Camellia sinensis, and the natural world it comes from. Through mindfulness, taste, and presence, we will explore the art of brewing and the subtle wisdom held in each leaf.

We will be sharing three teas that reflect the relationship between nature, cultivation, and the human hands that guide this ancient plant from mountain to cup.

To create an accessible and welcoming space, we offer a flexible pricing model. You are invited to choose between $35 or $25 depending on your financial capacity. Your support helps sustain a community rooted in care, equity, and mutual respect.

We also recognize that historical and structural barriers continue to impact access for BIPOC communities. To help bridge this gap, we offer a $15 option for BIPOC participants who would benefit from it. This tier reflects a commitment to expanding access and honoring the experiences of those who have been excluded from such spaces in the past.

This workshop is guided by D’Guar Herrera (they them), a dedicated student of tea based in Portland Oregon. D’Guar’s path with tea began as a search for purpose and presence. What followed was a relationship with a plant that speaks in stories, mysteries, and stillness. With deep ancestral roots tied to the land, D’Guar sees tea as a way to listen to the earth and build meaningful connection through shared ritual.

🌿 $5 from each participant will be donated to Q Center, a local organization devoted to supporting the LGBTQ2SIA community. As tea invites presence and belonging, Q Center provides resources, advocacy, and a safe space for queer and trans people to gather and thrive.

D’Guar (they/them) humbly serves as both fellow student and guide throughout this tea workshop series. Their approach to tea extends beyond its physical form, offered as a meditative practice rooted in connection, presence, and self-discovery. D’Guar is committed to creating an inclusive, welcoming space where others can explore a deeper, more personal relationship with tea.
