Led by Grey from Pop Gym, we’ll be covering the basics: stretching, conditioning, technique, and theory, with the hope that participants will leave with some super useful foundations that they can add to their self-defense toolkits.
Mix that in with movement and pad-hitting and you’ll have an accessible and confidence-boosting good time for all. This workshop is great for beginners, meant to share some simple-to-pick-up techniques that you can practice on your own or with friends!
Grey (He/Him, They/Them) has been an instructor with Pop Gym since 2017, and has been co-organizing and leading self-defense workshops in NYC since 2015. They have a background Tae-Kwon-Do, as well as Muay Thai, Boxing, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. They enjoy creating spaces in which participants can better learn to understand their self-defense abilities and brainstorming individual and collective ways we can defend ourselves and our communities.
Interference Archive is ADA accessible and on the ground floor. There are two single-stall all gender ADA-accessible bathrooms. Masks are encouraged, but not required (and we usually have some available).
