INTRODUCTION TO PHOTOSHOP

Bring your laptop, grab a coffee and enjoy an introduction to photo editing. This is a 6 week course designed to give you a foundation of skills to use image editing software. Learning to use software like Photoshop can be complicated and daunting for first time users. This course will introduce you to the main functions and features of this software and enable you to use it to process your photographs and improve your images. Topics include: resolution and image resizing; making selections; interpreting histograms and curves; understanding digital colour; using layers; making localised adjustments using layer masks; and creating photographs for printing or publishing online. A majority of the skills learnt will be transferable to different editing platforms.

At the end of the course you will be able to:

-​Use a digital imaging package to open, re-touch, and resize photographs;

-​Manipulate image adjustments to improve your images;

-​Demonstrate the use of layers and layer masks;

-​Save and export images for publishing in a wide range of formats.
