What sort of experience and qualifications do you have?

I am a fully qualified Mountain Leader who has been assessed by a member of Mountain Training Association. I have over ten years experience as a leader, including seven years teaching navigation to young people and adults.

Where will the route be going?

Starting at Halifax Train Station, we will be calling at a variety of places, including Beacon Hill, Southowram Bank, The Shears Inn and finally back to the Train Station again.

Question 3

What sort of equipment will I need?

You should bring with you something to keep you dry if it rains, something to eat, something to drink and any personal medications you may need. A small pack to put everything in is a good idea. You do not need any navigation equipment at all, but please bring along with you if you have any.

Question 4

How difficult will the walking be?

We will be going up a significant hill, to an altitude of around 250 meters. It will be hilly, with some steep sections.

Question 5

What if it rains?

The walk will go ahead even if it rains. However, there are some weather conditions where it will be cancelled. These include thunderstorms, and high wind. I will be using the Met Office weather forecast as a guide and will notify any participants the night before if it is going to be cancelled.

What if I can't make it?

If you have signed up for the event but cannot make it on the day, or simply feel like you would rather not take part when the time comes, then please let me know as soon as you can.
