Description

Introduction to Native Landscaping
Tuesday, February 19 6:30-8pm Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center Auditorium

What’s the big deal about native plants? Is this just some trendy new fad? As long as it looks good in the garden, does it really matter where a plant comes from? Learn these answers to these and other common questions at a workshop led by Stephen Van Rhein of the Missouri Department of Conservation, and William Roth Gibson of Green Thumb Gardens.

If you’re a new homeowner, a beginning gardener, or maybe you’re just “native-plant curious”- this is the workshop for you! We’ll cover the basics: the importance of using native plants in your landscape, some tried and true favorite species, and a few simple garden templates you can try out at home. Once you get your feet wet you’ll never look at your yard the same way again!

All proceeds support our efforts to promote more native landscapes in Kansas City. However, we never want cost to be a barrier, so scholarships are available- email kcnpi (at) kcnpi.org to inquire.

Photographs and video may be taken. Registration and attendance constitutes an agreement by the registrant to KCNPI's use and distribution—both now and in the future—of the attendee’s image, videotapes, and electronic reproductions.
