During this workshop we will be exploring the world of fungi and their relations to the environment.

During this workshop you will learn:

  • different parts of a mushroom and how they are used for identification
  • how to identify a mushroom species
  • reading the landscape to find the best places to look for them
  • the relationships of trees and mushrooms
  • edible and medicinal uses of fungi.

This is a hike to find and identify various mushrooms with a focus on learning the process to identify them. Handout of mushroom parts included to aid in identifying.

Dress accordingly to the weather. Be prepared for sun or rain. Please bring a notebook and camera if you wish to take notes and any guidebooks you want to bring along.

*We will be learning about and identifying mushrooms in this workshop only. Foraging is prohibited in provincial parks though a great place to hike and enjoy viewing them!
