Summary: This four hour course covers the fundamentals of preparing and joining stock metal with MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding.

Description: Students will get hands on experience using an angle grinder for steel prep, and a MIG welder to create various joints. In addition students will learn proper safety and methods for tool setup, use, and breakdown.

About the Instructor:

Hank wears a lot of hats.

Originally MASS’s first apprentice, he now runs the fabrication arm of MASS, as well as working on shop maintenance and equipment improvements. He also teaches classes on CNC fabrication and flatpack furniture design.

In his 10 years at MASS, he’s taught just about every class we’ve ever offered, and a whole bunch we haven’t. From hand-cut dovetails to complex manual machining, he’s trained members and apprentices on every machine we’ve ever owned.

Q: What is the dress code?

A: Closed toed shoes, as well as long cotton pants and shirts are a must. Please wear leather or canvas shoes, not synthetic sneakers. For your own safety, no synthetic fabrics please. Gloves, jackets, earplugs and eye protection will be provided.

Q: When do ticket sales end?

A: Ticket sales end two days before the event begins.

Q: How many people can sign up?

A: Each class has a maximum of 6 people.

Q: Is there an age requirement?

A: Students must be above the age of 11, Students under 18 will either need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian or will require additional permission paperwork.

Q: Is my registration/ticket transferable?

A: Yes, please notify us before ticket sales end about any transfer of purchase.

Q: What is the refund policy?

A: We will refund any ticket requested for any reason up to 7 days before the course date. If possible we will make every effort to transfer tickets to future course dates if contacted more than 24 hours before the course begins. If the class cannot run as scheduled, purchaser will have the option of a full refund or credit towards ta future class.
