Intro to Hand Embroidery
Led by Kathleen Walck, of Local Folk Creative Studio in Kutztown, this workshop will teach you the basics of embroidery as you create a 3” hoop art piece. Students will learn 3-5 basic stitches as well as how to complete the back of the hoop for a finished look. A variety of imagery, background fabrics, and thread colors are available to customize your work. No experience necessary, best for ages 12+.
Kathleen Walck is an artist, teacher and owner of Local Folk Creative Studio in Kutztown. A Pennsylvania certified K-12 art educator, Kathleen has taught art to toddlers through adults since 2002. Prior to starting Local Folk in October 2021, she taught art in a Reggio Emilia-inspired preschool, taught craft classes at a variety of community venues, and also worked as a museum educator at the Allentown Art Museum. She is passionate about handwork and crafts, and believes strongly in the arts as a way to create bonds within communities.
