(2 PDPs) Join us at the Carle with local artist Angela Zammarelli from Zea Mays Printmaking for an Introduction to Gelli Plate Printmaking workshop! In this two hour workshop we will use Gelli Plates, acrylic paint, markers and texture making materials to create monotype prints. These prints can be enjoyed as completed pieces of art or later used in collage, card making, or for other decorative paper purposes.
Gelli plates that are purchased from an art supply store are made of non-toxic synthetic gelatin and can be used over and over again with proper care and storage. They are a fun and accessible way to print without a press. In addition to creating prints we will learn how to remove the acrylic from our waste water.
A limited number of workshop spots are free for preschool teachers and elementary teachers in Title 1 Schools through The Carle Community Fund. Scholarships are awarded at random and offered on a quarterly basis. Application deadline is June 15.
