This workshop is designed for beginners who have basic familiarity with a sewing machine (threading, simple straight stitch) and are ready to advance their skills. No previous garment sewing experience required.

Essentially, have you turned your machine on and run some fabric through it but never really made anything yet? Have you attempted to hem some curtains or make basic home decor items? Come join us! You’ll learn everything you need to know at the workshop.

You'll construct a simple linen (or light weight woven cotton) sleeveless top. A versatile and essential staple for every wardrobe. This light, breezy, and semi-fitted pattern is sure to keep you cool all summer long!

I chose this free pattern due to its timeless design and ability to teach fundamental skills you'll use in many future garment project. (Also, it’s free and accessible to those just starting out.)

The pattern comes in sizes 0/2 to 28/30. (NOTE: If you are outside of this size range and would like to participate, please reach out and we’ll source a pattern unique to you.)

Frequently asked questions

I've never made anything before, can I still participate?

If you're new to sewing but know how to thread your machine and sew a (somewhat) straight line that's really all you need to take the class. We will be covering the basics of setting up your machine for success but we won't be going through all the details of your machine.

I'm not sure the pattern chosen will fit me, can I bring my own?

In short, no. In order for this intro class to run as smoothly as possible this simple, versatile pattern has been chosen. There are some modifications that can be made though to this pattern (grading between sizes, cropping or lengthening etc.). Contact hello@wildbobbin.com for sizing guides.

These dates don't work for me, will you be hosting the class again?

Sorry to hear these dates/times don't work with your schedule. I most certainly will be offering other classes, workshops and events in the future. Email hello@wildbobbin.com to join our mailing list.

Do you offer 1:1 classes?

Yes I do! I'd love to help you create a handmade wardrobe that's unique to you. Send me an email at hello@wildbobbin.com and let's chat.
