Intro to Fire Fan Tech with Tanooki Twirls | Philly Flow Academy | Part 1
Overview
Ever watched someone dance with flow fans and wondered how they make those shapes, crisp lines, and smooth patterns look so effortless? That’s fan technique. Fans are props that extend your movement, letting you draw circles, frames, and pathways with your hands and arms.
In this intermediate workshop, Philly performer and instructor Tanooki Twirls breaks everything down using her signature “3 Ts” method: Terminology, Timing, and Transitions. If you’re newer to fans or you’ve been playing for a bit and want to refine your technique, this class will help you get grounded, smooth, and intentional.
We’ll cover:
• Fan foundations like isolations, extensions, and timing
• Clean transitions and how to link tricks together
• Native vs non-native grip and when to use each
• Body awareness tips for staying fluid and injury-free
Bring your fans if you have them. If you need to borrow a pair, reach out via email.
Sliding scale: $25 to $35 based on income.
