Intro to Bonsai: Olive Tree
Overview
Ready to grow your patience, creativity, and a tiny tree of your very own? Join us for a hands-on Intro to Bonsai workshop with David Kuntz of Jagged Spruce Bonsai, where you’ll dive into the ancient art of cultivating miniature trees!
Each participant will receive their own young olive tree to prune, shape, and style during class — and to take home afterward to continue nurturing. Olives are a special choice for bonsai: though they rarely produce fruit when trained this way, they’re evergreen, hardy, and among the easiest trees to grow. Across Europe, thousands of olive bonsai thrive — many with beautifully carved, hollow trunks that tell a story of age and artistry. Think of the incredible Poulan olives of Spain for inspiration!
David will guide you through the fundamentals of bonsai care and design — choosing your front, pruning for balance, wiring for form, and understanding watering and soil needs. You’ll leave not just with knowledge, but with a living piece of art — a symbol of peace, wisdom, and enduring beauty.
Perfect for beginners and plant lovers alike, this class is equal parts relaxing, inspiring, and a little addictive (once you start bonsai, it’s hard to stop!).
All materials included. Space is limited — reserve your spot early and take root in this timeless tradition!
