Intro to Basketry Series: Rib Baskets with Traycee Bosle
6-Part Series
Dates: Saturday Afternoons, February 21 - March 28
Time: 1PM - 4PM
Description:
Learn to weave rib baskets, and share in a Pennsylvania basketry tradition!
Rib baskets are a well known part of basketry traditions in the Pennsylvania region. This style of basketry immigrated to the region with european settlers, and is often associated with Pennsylvania Dutch, as well as other immigrant communities. These baskets are/were workhorses of agriculture, used to gather and store everything from eggs to potatoes.
Over the course of 6 Saturdays, students will learn to work with ribs and hoops, different binding methods like the beautiful God's Eye and Bow Knot, and a decorative handle technique while constructing a melon and double-lobe cheek basket using both natural and color reed.

Traycee has made it her mission to share her love for this once ubiquitous and critical skill with people of all ages. Her classes are fun, informative and personalized! She provides hands-on, individualized instruction using her own specially designed basket kits to teach the fundamentals of the art and meet each student where they are in their skill level. Whether you are an absolute beginner or have already made a few baskets, you will walk away with new skills and a beautiful basket you can use every day.
