Take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn about Afro-Cuban folklore in this conversation + music + dance workshop!

Conversation: 2:30 - 3pm

  • A brief discussion explaining the role and development of folklore inside and outside of Cuba, as well as an opportunity to explore the different developing cultural attitudes towards Folklore.

Song & Music: 3pm-4pm

  • An opportunity to learn fundamental songs, and basic concepts regarding Cuban Batá Drums*

    *A single set of artistic, non-sacred Batá (Aberinkula) is available for the class but if you own Batá drums for practice, particularly Okonkolo or Itotele, it is encouraged that you bring them so more people can have an opportunity to play.

Dance Workshop: 4pm-5pm

  • Afro-Cuban folkoric dance: Orisha Changó

Cost:

Early bird full access: $35

Early bird just dance: $20

Prices go up by $5 the week before.


Cash in-person is preferred for ticket purchases the day of the event. Online ticket purchases the day of the event will not have the Eventbrite processing fees absorbed into the cost of the ticket.
