About this event

Chi Gong (also spelled Qi Gong or Qigong) is a 4,000 year old Chinese art of moving meditation that was absorbed into Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at its conception, and then adopted by Taoism about 2000 years ago. Chi Gong is the root form of both Tai Chi and Kung Fu, each of which has huge benefits for health, balance, and well-being.

We've been meeting on Monday nights at 6:30 pm Eastern Time for a few years now, alternating each week between doing Three Treasures Chi Gong (this class) and Five Elements Chi Gong (my other class)..

During the summer I am often not able to teach due to childcare, but when I am, I will add a class to the schedule on the Intro Chi Gong For Healing schedule. These summer classes will often including a different and more challenging set of moves. The regular weekly cadence will resume in early September once my kids are back in school.

Each class starts with a short Q&A while we give students time to log on, followed by a 15 minute warm up, a 25 minute set of flows, and an optional 5-10 minute seated meditation a the end.

In the regular Intro Chi Gong For Harmony & Balance, we focus on bringing the three energy centers of the body into balance. There is an energy center for the physical body in the belly area, an energy center for the emotions in the heart area, and an energy center for mind and spirit in the head area.

In the other Intro Chi Gong For Harmony & Balance class, we focus on healing the body, mind, and spirit, by bringing the five basic energies of the body into balance. Together, those energies, or "chi", form the "five elements", one for each of the earth, metal, water, wood, and fire elements.

All classes are taught live over Google Meet, which is free for 1 hour meetings.

You may join or leave the class at any time.

For the class, you should have room to swing your arms around and weear comfortable loose-fitting clothing, such as pajamas or sweatpants. Bare feet is ideal, but being cold will be counter-productive to the benefits of your practice.

About Tickets: You only need to get a ticket to your first class, as the link to the meeting does not change from week to week.

About The Instructor: I'm towards the end of a teacher training program at Holden Qi Gong, which hopefully I will find the time to finish off soon. After I do, I'll still teach this class each week, and it'll still be free.

About this style of chi gong: Holden Qi Gong focuses on "Medical Qi Gong" and is oriented around physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. My work is similarly focused, but also emphasizes releasing negative energies and experiences that cause chronic damage over time.

I wish you healing, harmony, and balance.

I am finishing up my teacher training at Holden Qi Gong, a school that promotes physical, emotional, and spiritual healing, known as "medical" chi gong. My work is similarly focused. Chi Gong has come to me twice in my life to help get me out some tough jams and it is an honor to share that kind of healing power with other people. My classes will always be free.
