This hands-on workshop is designed for makerspace members and other job seekers who want to strengthen their interview skills in a supportive, low-pressure environment. Whether you’re applying for a creative, technical, or customer-facing role, we’ll help you prepare to talk about your experience in a way that feels authentic and compelling.

The formats provided are also great for year-end/mid-year review prep in a current role, or going after a promotion.

🧠 We’ll cover:

• What to expect in different types of interviews (screenings, panels, technical, final rounds)
• How to answer common behavioral questions using the STAR method
• How to tailor your responses to the job description
• Nonverbal communication tips (body language, tone, confidence)
• Questions you can ask to learn more about a company or role

🤝 Then you’ll practice with a partner:

• Take turns answering real interview questions
• Give and receive peer feedback using a simple, structured form
• Get more comfortable with storytelling, tone, and pacing

• A copy (printed or digital) of 1–2 job descriptions you're applying for
• Notebook or device for taking notes

Workshops with Coach Kate of KaptivateMe guide participants in focused learning, development and conversation on specific topics, where she - along with additional subject matter experts at times - will provide specific guidance and resources; and answer your related questions. Think about everything from the maker’s mindset and burnout management to how to write a business plan; the nuts and bolts of starting a business; or building a brand and marketing strategy.

Kate Peabody, MBA, is an International Coaching Federation Professional Certified Coach pairing positive-psychology-based coaching with more than fifteen years of corporate & small business leadership, creative confidence and design-thinking experience. Kate loves being part of the CCM community to help makers balance work, life and time for their holistic wellbeing, and explore and take action on their potential as a professional maker.
