In this session, we will focus on interpreting during two of the most complex and legally significant interactions in special education.
- Participants will examine the interpreter’s responsibilities before, during, and after the meeting, including preparation, clarifying roles, and working effectively with multidisciplinary IEP teams.
- We will discuss how to manage emotionally charged moments and ensure equitable participation for families.
- The session emphasizes best practices for interpreter collaboration, message management, and ethical decision-making to promote linguistic access.
