The Equal Pay International Coalition (EPIC), led by the ILO, UN Women, and the OECD, is honoured to invite you to participate in the celebration of the International Equal Pay Day 2023. The event will take place in person only, on Monday, 18 September 2023 at the WESTIN NEW YORK GRAND CENTRAL, New York, from 18.00 to 20.15.
Some of you may have participated in an event in September 2018 where global leaders, including Heads of State, CEOs of multinational companies, Heads of employers’ and workers’ organizations, and representatives of renowned universities and civil society organizations came together to publicly demonstrate their commitment to work towards equal pay under the EPIC umbrella. Over 40 pledges were made to demonstrate their shared vision to accelerate progress to achieve equal pay.
Five years later, the need to close the global gender pay gap, which currently stands at 20%, is now more than ever recognized by labour market actors including governments, employers’ organizations, the private sector, workers’ organizations, and civil society.
The International Equal Pay Day 2023 is envisaged to celebrate achievements and discuss challenges concerning these pledges made in 2018, as well as provide an opportunity for you to make a new equal pay pledge.
