Internal Auditing Workshop

Thursday, Apr. 6, 2017 | 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Internal auditing is included in food safety management requirements of the GFSI Guidance Document and is an essential element of GFSI benchmarked standards including BRC, SQF, IFS and FSSC 22000.

This workshop will allow participants to gain the knowledge and skill to design, execute and implement an internal auditing system that provides value to your company and not just paperwork to your food safety system. There will be discussions on how to identify, reduce and control risks before they become a food safety incident, regulatory non-conformance or even a third party audit finding.

Topics discussed/course outline:

  • Welcome and course introduction
  • Why audit? How can internal auditing add value?
  • Who audits? Key attributes for the auditing team.
  • Understanding your company, not just the standards.
  • Process mapping / process audits
  • Overview of GFSI audits and regulatory requirements – what to look for
  • Scheduling audits for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Auditing skills: asking the right questions, remaining objective and adding value
  • Common issues and concerns with auditing
  • Case studies / exercise

Participants will receive a certificate of completion at the conclusion of the workshop. Continental breakfast, lunch, afternoon snacks and beverages will be provided throughout.

This training requires attendance and participation of the duration to receive a certificate.
