About this event

Learn useful concepts that lead to successful outcomes for your projects such as a tote bag, apron, or stuffed toy:

  • Correct fabric choices for the project.
  • General order of construction for a variety of projects.
  • Analyzing written instructions and patterns
  • What to look for before starting a project: seam allowances, important marks and measurements, supplies needed.

Refresh your sewing techniques by practicing basic seams and seam finishes, hem variations, buttonholes, learn about various zippers and applications, and get creative with a discussion of embellishment options and techniques.

Basic sewing machine experience is required. Take Intro to Sewing at Factory 3 if you need an intro!

Tools & supplies: All fabric will be provided. Sewing machines and all tools will be provided, but you are also welcome to bring your own. Your machine must be in good working condition.

About the instructor:

Michelle Kruegar, originally from Massachusetts, has lived in Maine since 2015. She studied Fashion Design in high school and has a degree in Retail Fashion from Becker College. While working in the medical and retail industries, she maintained sewing and crocheting as both a hobby and a part-time business. In 2024, Michelle decided to make sewing her full-time career and opened Michelle Lee’s Stitchery, a sewing and alterations shop located in Yarmouth. As well as managing the shop and being a sewing instructor, Michelle produces craft products for representation in craft shows as her “side gig”.
