Overview
Are you ready to get your poetry on? Join us on December 16, 2025 at Satori Arts for Inter|Act, a FREE shared words open mic night, from 7-9 pm, featuring spoken work artist Jasmine Schflake.
Jasmine Schlafke, better known by her stage name Queen Jasmeen, is a poet, slam coach, diversity trainer and doula from Santa Cruz, CA. Born and raised in San Francisco in the 80s and early 90s, she has always carried with her the cultural identity of her home in the Mission district, though she has been a member of the Santa Cruz community for 27 years now. She was named Grand Slam Champion in Santa Cruz three years in a row from 2013-2015, also winning the title in San Jose in 2013. Jasmine has led her team to the semi-finals stage of the National Poetry Slam every year she’s competed, also representing her city at the Individual World Poetry Slam in 2015. Her first book, “Crowned” published in 2019 by Bay Company Books, is a widely respected expression of the complexity of compounded identities, reflecting on mental health, race, teen parenting, womanhood, ministry and so much more. She is a poet’s poet, having inspired some of the country’s most well respected poets working today. Currently, she works as a privately contracted poetry and performance coach, and is a proud single mother of two grown children.
