INTEL LASTIERRE & VY NGO MIGRATION WALK
Overview
Join us for a special program during the Austin Studio Tour — a walk-and-talk with artists Intel Lastierre and Vy Ngo, whose exhibitions are currently on view at DORF and the Dougherty Arts Center.
Both artists root their practices in deeply personal narratives of migration, belonging, and cultural inheritance. Through painting and sculpture, Intel deconstructs the lived immigrant experience in the U.S., weaving together art history, philosophy, and Filipino mythology. Vy’s luminous works reflect on her family’s journey as refugees from Vietnam, capturing the emotional landscapes of displacement and renewal. Together, their exhibitions form a dialogue about identity, resilience, and the power of art to hold complex histories.
We’ll begin at DORF for a walkthrough of Intel’s exhibition, Infernal Rebirth into Hell: Illusions and Realities, then take a short, guided walk to the Dougherty Arts Center, where Vy will share insights into her concurrent solo show, What Lingers in our Bones. This informal program invites open conversation, connection, and reflection as we move between two of Austin’s vibrant art spaces.
In the spirit of community care, we will be collecting donations for local food banks and pantries during the event. Participation is free and open to the public — attendees are encouraged to bring a contribution to the food drive in lieu of admission.
