About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Ages 18+

Insula Collective is a wellness initiative that offers affirming, peer-led spaces for BIPOC to explore mental health, identity, and healing in real time. In the past year alone, we’ve hosted 50+ support groups — online and in person — each one rooted in connection, care, and collective reflection.

This gathering will be led by Briana Boyd, a certified peer support specialist (CA & NY) and the founder of Insula Collective. With lived experience and a deep commitment to creating non-clinical, culturally grounded spaces, Briana facilitates each group with intention and warmth.

You do not need a formal diagnosis to attend. This is not therapy. It’s a space for BIPOC folks to come as they are — to be heard, seen, and supported.

Each group centers around a single topic (e.g. life transitions, family dynamics, burnout, loneliness, identity), which is voted on by attendees at the start of the session. Through structured prompts, shared storytelling, and grounding exercises, we co-create a space that is reflective, soft, and judgment-free.

This group is intended for those who identify as BIPOC or people of color. We welcome the full spectrum of our communities — including multiracial, white-passing, and ethnically ambiguous individuals who identify as BIPOC. If you are not a person of color, we ask that you honor the intention of this space and do not register at this time.

That said, we believe in community care for all. If you're interested in future offerings that are open to everyone, you're welcome to fill out this interest form — we’d love to stay connected.

Frequently asked questions

? Is registration required?

Yes. Registration is mandatory for all participants — we keep our groups intentionally small to preserve a sense of safety and intimacy. Walk-ins will not be admitted.

? Will there be snacks or drinks?

Yes! We’ll have light snacks and beverages available. You're welcome to bring your own water or comfort items as well.

? I can’t attend anymore — can I get a refund?

If you can no longer attend, you may request a refund via Eventbrite up to 1 day prior to the event. If you’re experiencing an emergency, please email briana@insulacollective.com — I’ll do my best to accommodate. Because this is a small, community-centered event, no-shows or late cancellations dir

? What can I expect during the group?

Each group is peer-led and rooted in care, not clinical intervention. We’ll open with a short check-in or grounding activity, then dive into a guided conversation around a chosen topic, which is voted on by participants at the start of the session. You are never required to share. Listening counts!
