Instructions on How To Be Alone

Instructions on How To Be Alone

By The Missing Theatre

Overview

Alone in her room, a woman waits for a call that might save her.

Starting off as an immersive, site-specific piece in 2024, funded by Arts Council England and a sold out debut show in London, we are redeveloping this piece into a theatrical production. Through an original soundtrack and experimental movement, Instructions weighs up the cost of isolation. How much can we afford to lose, when we’re already desperate?

The Missing Theatre exists to make work that crosses disciplines and dismantles traditional expectations of “theatre theatre”. Rooted in collaboration between artists from music, fine art, dance, and writing, our projects are philosophical yet visceral. We are less interested in story than in worlds: constructed environments where audiences can encounter the absurd, the surreal, and the deeply human.
