Installation with Sto Len at the Newtown Creek Center of Visual Research
Event Information
Description
Artist Sto Len investigates urban sprawl and the illegal dumping of toxic waste in natural habitats through a series of monoprints pulled from the water’s surface. At the same time, his process-based sound performances investigate the sound of everyday objects, amplifying the voice of the unconsidered materials in our daily lives, while drawing attention to waterways as vital resources that are in dire need of protection and even reverence. Join him for a two-hour experience at the Newtown Creek in Maspeth, Queens, one of the most polluted bodies of water in the U.S., and one of the sites for his Pollution Print Archive currently on view in the exhibition Tracing Obsolescence.
This is an outdoor event. In case of heavy rain, the performance will be rescheduled. Participants will be notified personally by 11am on Saturday if the event is cancelled.
