Inside the Sensorium: What Science Can Bring to the Senses
Overview
This event is free of charge. However, registration is required and we appreciate donations to help cover event costs and support our work. Your contribution is tax-deductible.
Catalyst Conversations invites you to Inside the Sensorium featuring artists and scientists in dialogue. As we explore our senses in a deeper way , we find that our natural world is wilder than we think – living plants have songs to sing, and extinct flowers have aromas to share. With exquisite instruments and biological tools, a biologist, musician, and neuroscientists adopt elements from the living and material worlds and translate them into something ephemeral.
During this immersive evening exploring how we perceive the world around us, you will:
- Experience sound and scent in unexpected ways
- Listen to plants’ music through their electrical signals
- Encounter aromas from extinct flowers
- Discover how neuroscience reveals the way our senses come together into a cohesive experience
