Inside COP30: Science, solutions, and the Texas Tech perspective
Overview
Countries gathered in November for COP30, as the world once again turned to the urgent challenges and promising solutions surrounding the climate crisis. To help make sense of it all, Texas Tech University is hosting a virtual conversation with three experts offering on-the-ground and big picture perspectives.
Dr. Ting Lin and Dr. Bryan Giemza, who attended COP30 in person, will share what it was like to be at this year’s UN climate summit—what they observed, what conversations stood out, and how global decisions connect to local communities. They’ll be joined by Dr. Katharine Hayhoe, an internationally recognized climate scientist and past COP participant, who will help contextualize this year’s outcomes within the broader landscape of climate risks, progress, and solutions.
Moderated by Dr. Nick Smith, Director of the TTU Climate Center, this free event will explore the science, policy, and solutions vital to climate action and end with an open Q&A from the audience.
