Taking Up Space is back and proud to present Insatiable: Notes on Queer Appetite. Similar to our first exhibit, ‘Insatiable’ will be a multi-artform exhibit that champions a range of mediums; painting, photography, fashion, sculpture, live art and performance, drag, spoken word and writing. The premise of this exhibit is to explore and capture the intrinsic nature of hunger and appetite to Queer existence and the many forms in which this manifests; political and social hunger, sexual desire and longing, the appetite for change or for more, cultural and personal relationships to food, vanity, the reclamation of hunger and appetite by fat bodies, sex work, the hunger to become something else, Queer notions of open love, and lastly, community garnered satisfaction and fulfilment.
Taking Up Space prides themselves on paying visual artists to exhibit their work and taking zero commission from any sales. Ticket sales and the purchases of artwork and merchandise go straight back to local Queer talent and artistry. This is exhibit and show is taking place in The Stables at Meat Market.
