Leaving her family at age 8, Suse Herz Rosenstock, mother of Elaine Peizer, left Germany in 1939 as one of 10,000 children who were a part of the Kindertransport. She arrived in the UK and was taken in by a family of the Christadelphian faith. She became a member of the Parry family and lived with them for the next 6 years.

Finally, in 1946, she was able to emigrate to the United States. Her mother, Flora and sister, Edith, survived the war and were reunited with her in 1947 in New York. Suse kept in touch with the Parry family in England and Elaine has continued this important connection.

Elaine and her husband have travelled extensively to sites in Germany and the UK to learn more about the Kindertransport and her mother’s experience.

Elaine lives in Seattle.
