Event description

Description

This hands-on, instructor-led series of workshops will take you from the basics of Terraform to advanced deployments that will allow you to create masterful Terraform deployments of your own involving Docker, AWS, Kubernetes, and other technologies that are capable of utilizing the benefits of Infrastructure as Code.

Terraform is an amazing toolset for automating infrastructure in the public and private cloud. It is a DevOps tool for declarative infrastructure—infrastructure as code. It simplifies and accelerates the configuration of cloud-based environments.

This series of workshops takes you from Terraform 101 to advanced application of this incredible and time saving toolset. Michael Dyer, Technology Director, Software Architect and Code District Instructor will show you how to use Terraform to deploy resources, servers, virtual machines, clusters and more!

Discover how to use Terraform CLI commands and string together Terraform executions with variables. You will also learn patterns, best practices, and workflow steps that will keep your infrastructure and Terraform projects manageable. In addition, you will be shown how to extend Terraform with plugins and the HashiCrop open-source tooling suite.

Who is This Training For?

Sysadmin, engineers, developers, CTOs, or anyone else responsible for code after it has been written who wants to learn how to programmatically define and manage your entire tech stack because you’re tired of managing infrastructure manually and dealing with outages at 3:00am.

Prerequisites

A basic familiarity with programming, the command line, and server-based software (e.g., websites). Entry level AWS experience is suggested.

Required materials and setup

A machine with Terraform, Git, and the text editor of your choice (as long as it supports Terraform syntax—Sublime, Vim, Emacs, Notepad++, IntelliJ, Visual Studio Code, Atom, and TextMate are all good choices). An AWS account with admin permissions and access keys (free tier is fine).
