About this event

RADIUS’ Refugee Livelihood Lab offers the Migrant Systems Change Leadership certificate program to people in British Columbia with first-hand lived experiences of being a racialized refugee, newcomer, or migrant.

The Refugee Livelihood Lab facilitation team and participants will work together to deepen our understanding of systemic issues affecting migrant and refugee communities. By focusing on transforming the systems we’re in, we will gain an understanding of how rules, norms, relationships, and ways of thinking can create long-term, meaningful change. We will explore concepts such as equity, power, racial justice, Indigenous rights, decolonization, solidarity and collective liberation.

Attend an information session to find out more about the program and if it’s the right fit for you! The information session will be on Zoom. A link will be provided to you a few days before the session.

RADIUS is a social innovation hub based at the Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University. We operate on the unceded, traditional, and ancestral territories of the xwməθkwəy̓ əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱ wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), səl̓ilw̓ ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), q̓ íc̓ əy̓ (Katzie), kwikwəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem), Qayqayt, Kwantlen, Semiahmoo, and Tsawwassen peoples.

At RADIUS, social innovators, entrepreneurs, and community leaders are collectively working towards a transformed economy that is dynamic, just, sustainable, and resilient. RADIUS collaboratively builds the shared capacity, networks, and solutions needed to get there through cohort-based programs, experiential labs, and training centring migrant communities, health-equity-seeking innovators, Indigenous entrepreneurs, and emerging systems changemakers. RADIUS also supports organizations across Canada to engage in internal reflection on Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and assists in hosting community-led processes for addressing tough challenges.

RADIUS’s position within an academic institution benefits from oppressive systems and aims to use its power to challenge the status quo. RADIUS believes a transformed economy will be built by community-led solutions and the redistribution of leadership, centring those who have been historically and persistently marginalized.
