Find out why induction stoves make as much sense for your kitchen as for the environment.

About this event

Induction Stove Webinar: Tuesday, May 24th, 7pm

In this free webinar, Ryan Pierce from Samsung will explain how induction stoves work and the practical and environmental benefits they provide. He’ll also summarize the research showing the negative impacts of gas stoves on the health of those that have them. In addition, we’ll hear from an induction stove user and we’ll learn how to take advantage of the bulk discounts that we have negotiated with Best Buy. There will be lots of time to ask questions in this 60-90 minute session.

Bulk Buy for Induction Stoves:

Induction stoves heat water twice as fast as gas and they are safer than both gas and conventional electric stoves. Best Buy is providing discounts of $300 to $900 on seven different induction stove ranges and $100 to $150 on three different induction stove cooktops. Best of all, a special team of their staff will discuss which brand of an induction range or cooktop might best meet the needs of a particular individual. Anyone in Ontario within Best Buy’s catchment area can participate. For more details, check the Net Zero page at

Why are we doing this? Most homes in Ontario cities have 3 gas appliances that generate greenhouse gas emissions. Besides gas stoves, many have gas water heaters and gas furnaces. Replacing a gas cookstove is a good first step in transitioning off fossil fuels, because doing so will also yield health benefits. Research shows that gas stoves release considerable amounts of indoor air pollutants, much of which lingers long after people turn off their exhaust systems.
