Course Description: This workshop equips clinicians with integrative, culturally grounded healing models informed by Black feminist praxis and Afro-diasporic traditions. Drawing on personal narratives and collaborations with Afro-Colombian and Afro-Brazilian women, the session explores emotional reparations, communal care, art, and spirituality as healing modalities. Participants will examine implicit bias in clinical care and learn to expand their therapeutic toolkits with practices that affirm Black communal resilience, creativity, and spirituality.

Target Audience : ACBH Staff, Contracted Community Based Organizations, and Mental Health and SUD Providers.

Measurable Learning Objectives:

1. List 1 example of “emotional reparations” and its connection to Afrocentric healing models.

2. Identify at least three healing modalities practiced by Black womxn.

3. Describe two ways implicit bias contributes to disparities in health outcomes.

4. Apply two Afrocentric healing strategies in clinical or community contexts.

5. Name three culturally relevant resources that support client care and community wellness.

About The Presenter: Nia Danielle Campinha-Bacote, M.Div., B.A. - Community-based healer, researcher, and educator specializing in Afro-diasporic approaches to health and healing. She holds degrees from Yale Divinity School and Brown University, a certificate in Music Thanatology, and has professional experience in chaplaincy, international AfroDiasporic collaborations, and sonic/communal healing.
