Experience an evening that combines two distinct musical worlds in a double set.
Berlin-based cellist, composer, and improviser Julia Biłat expands the solo cello format with performance art, creating intimate structures shaped by body, voice, and spatial awareness. Her work moves between improvisation, composition, and experimental performance, forming a vivid and introspective soundscape.

Zuza Jasinska & Keisuke Matsuno explore a dialogue of voice and guitar: Zuza’s folk-pop warmth, jazz inflection, and improvisational openness meets Keisuke’s detailed, textural guitar and electronics. Together they create a sound that is at once delicate, bold, and deeply responsive.

A curated incense blend accompanies the performance: fresh, clarifying Eucalyptus and the rare, traditionally purifying Dittany (Burning Bush). The botanical smoke deepens the sensory atmosphere. Note: the incense may be irritating for people with respiratory sensitivities.

Julia Biłat
Berlin-based cellist, improviser, and composer working across classical, jazz, performance, and experimental scenes. She performs with Stegreif.Orchestra, Camila Nebbia’s The Hanged One, and Fabiana Striffler’s Archiotic Quintet. She has composed and co-directed productions for Stegreif.Orchestra (most recently #bechange Hildegard von Bingen, 2022/23). Her solo work integrates performance art with cello improvisation, focusing on voice, body, and space. Performances include Butohpolis Festival (Warsaw), Into The Open (Berlin), and Intermittenze (Catania).

Zuza Jasinska

Keisuke Matsuno
Guitarist and sound artist working with guitar, self-built analog processing, and composition. He performs solo, in trio and quartet formations, and with ensembles including Wood River, Hues, Smashing Humans, The Killing Popes, Jim Black Quartet, and John Zorn’s Bagatelles. His work spans noise, texture, melody, and detailed instrumental songcraft.

Eucalyptus
Dried eucalyptus leaves emit a fresh, camphor-like, invigorating scent. Traditionally regarded as clarifying and purifying, the smoke is associated with clear breathing, mental focus, and energetic cleansing. Because of its intensity, only small amounts should be burned; not recommended for people with asthma or small children.

Dittany (Burning Bush)
A rare and protected plant once used in traditional smudging practices. Its aroma is spicy-bitter with citrus and camphor notes. Dittany has long been considered purifying, protective, and mentally sharpening, used historically to bless spaces and ward off negative influences.

Die in Berlin lebende Cellistin, Komponistin und Improvisatorin Julia Biłat erweitert das klassische Solo-Cello-Format durch performative Elemente und schafft intime Klangräume, die von Körper, Stimme und räumlicher Wahrnehmung geprägt sind. Ihre Arbeit bewegt sich zwischen Improvisation, Komposition und experimenteller Performance und formt eine lebendige, introspektive Klanglandschaft.

Zuza Jasinska & Keisuke Matsuno erkunden einen Dialog zwischen Stimme und Gitarre: Zuzas folk-popige Wärme, jazzige Färbung und improvisatorische Offenheit trifft auf Keisukes detailreiches Gitarrenspiel und elektronische Texturen. Gemeinsam erschaffen sie einen Klang, der zugleich zart, kühn und hochsensibel ist.

Ein kuratiertes Räucherwerk begleitet den Abend: der frische, klärende Duft von Eukalyptus sowie der seltene, traditionell reinigende Diptam (Brennender Busch). Der botanische Rauch intensiviert die sinnliche Atmosphäre. Hinweis: Das Räucherwerk kann für Menschen mit Atemwegsproblemen reizend sein.

In Berlin lebende Cellistin, Improvisatorin und Komponistin zwischen Klassik, Jazz, Performance und experimenteller Musik. Sie spielt u. a. mit Stegreif.Orchester, Camila Nebbias The Hanged One und Fabiana Strifflers Archiotic Quintet. Für das Stegreif.Orchester komponierte und co-regiete sie mehrere Produktionen (zuletzt #bechange Hildegard von Bingen, 2022/23).

Eukalyptus

Getrocknete Eukalyptusblätter verströmen einen frischen, kampferähnlichen, belebenden Duft. Traditionell gilt Eukalyptus als klärend und reinigend; der Rauch wird mit freier Atmung, mentaler Fokussierung und energetischer Reinigung assoziiert. Aufgrund seiner Intensität sollte nur wenig verbrannt werden; nicht empfohlen für Menschen mit Asthma oder Kleinkinder.

Diptam (Brennender Busch)

Eine seltene und geschützte Pflanze, die früher in traditionellen Räucherritualen genutzt wurde. Das Aroma ist würzig-bitter mit Zitrus- und Kampfernoten. Diptam gilt seit Langem als reinigend, schützend und geistig klärend – historisch eingesetzt, um Räume zu segnen und negative Einflüsse fernzuhalten.
