TBI 606 IS VALUABLE FOR ANYONE WORKING IN THE SCHOOLS OR WITH YOUR: Counselors, general education teachers, SPED teachers, related service personnel, administrators, behavioral health, early childhood education, support staff, foster care families and agencies, juvenile and adult corrections, and parents. It is especially valuable for those working with children through adulthood.
The format for these sessions will be short-format lecture with open discussion, "workgroup activities", and ongoing question and answer sessions throughout.
The objectives for this course are: (1) - demonstrate mastery of vocabulary and conceptual definitions of key functions in brain functions and behavior through review. (2) - reframe bioecological theory and asset-based frameworks when working with youth with exposure to ETOH and drugs in utero. (3) - discuss how neurodevelopment is impacted (short-term and long-term functioning) after toxic in utero exposure. (4) - identify at least two methods to screen. (5) - describe the five domains where dysfunction and disregulation are most likely to occur. (6) - review best practices in assessment and intervention. (7) - investigate at least two new resources for youth and family supports when children are exposed to drugs and/or alcohol during pregnancy.
All materials are provided for this course including the PPT handouts, activity sheets, and resources.
A total of 3 contact hours for professional development/continuing education units.
IMPORTANT: This virtual training is set for a half day training. We cover 90 minutes of content, take a 30-minute "brain break", then return and complete the remaining 90 minutes of content.
