In the Making: The Future of Hmong Storytelling & Innovation in Filmmaking

By In Progress

Overview

The 2025 Qhia Dab Neeg Film Festival honors 50 years of Hmong filmmaking and storytelling with six curated community screenings.

This screening invites us to reflect on the moments and experiences that shaped our creative journeys, while lifting up the next generation of storytellers. Together, we’ll talk honestly about what it takes to build, imagine, and sustain a creative life—and explore how young Hmong artists are reshaping storytelling across film, music, design, and digital media. We’ll look at innovation in real time: the risks, the breakthroughs, the questions, and the possibilities ahead.

Connect with artists and creatives across the community, hear how they’re pushing boundaries, and join a conversation about how we can collectively support the future of Hmong art, voice, and vision.
