'In the Dark' Portland String Quartet's Winter Solstice Concert

By Mechanics' Hall (Maine)

Overview

Mechanics' Hall & PSQ are celebrating the Winter Solstice in our historic Ballroom. This concert is an annual gift to the community!

Join us for a meditative and soul-nourishing Winter Solstice gathering, where music and poetry intertwine to offer moments of stillness, reflection, and light in the darkest season.

The Portland String Quartet presents Johann Sebastian Bach’s Art of the Fugue - a masterpiece of quiet intensity and contemplative beauty. This intricate work invites listeners to settle inward, to trace its counterpoint as a pathway toward clarity and calm.

This free concert invites audiences of all ages to listen deeply, breathe, and connect through an offering of music and words to mark the turning of the season.

This event is free and open to the public. Reservation required. Donations encouraged.

The concert begins at 5:30 PM, doors open at 5:00 PM.
