About this event

Arts • Craft

In Process @ The Watermill Center is our ongoing series of studio visits and open rehearsals that invite the community to gain unique insight into the creative process of our Artists-in-Residence, cultivating an understanding of how artists from across the globe develop new work.

Join us for IN PROCESS on Friday, October 10, from 5:30–7pm to meet our current Artists-in-Residence: Alessandro Di Lorenzo and Natalie Lassalle-Morillo & Ensemble.

Alessandro Di Lorenzo (b. 1997) is an artist originally from Matera (Italy), now based in Paris. His work merges sculpture, drawing, installation and video, and unfolds in a hybridized space at the crossroads of the real, the imaginary and the symbolic. His approach is linked to an art of metamorphosis, constantly evoking an encounter with a sensitive environment that generates new possibilities for co-dependence.

Natalia Lassalle-Morillo (Puerto Rico) is an artist whose transdisciplinary, research-based practice reconstructs memory and history through performance, film, and installation. Collaborating with non-professional performers and researchers, she challenges colonial and imperial narratives and explores Caribbean collective memory. Her work blends theater and camera-based methodologies to propose alternative historiographies and new mythologies. She has exhibited at venues including RedCat, Amant, and Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico, and has been a fellow or resident at the Smithsonian, Headlands Center for the Arts, Pioneer Works, and Fonderie Darling.

The Watermill Center is committed to providing accessible programs and services for all patrons and artists with disabilities. For further information about any accessibility needs, please email us at visit@watermillcenter.org.
