In Her Frame: A Beginner’s Film Development Workshop

By The Darkroom Chicago

Overview

We will guide black women through shooting, developing, and seeing your images come to life — all with care and intention.

In partnership with the Cent(Her)ed Collective, this hands-on workshop invites members of the Cent(Her)ed community and Black women into a shared space to learn the foundations of 35mm film photography with care and intention. You’ll shoot together on-site, develop your film step-by-step, and watch your images come to life in real time.

This space centers self-reflection, storytelling, and presence. Whether you're new to photography or curious about analog storytelling, this workshop offers room to slow down, connect, and see your world through a different lens.

All materials, cameras, and film are provided—just bring your perspective.
