About this event

Arts • Literary Arts

Join the Portrait Gallery and Poetry Camera for a new kind of poetry workshop. Created by Kelin Carolyn Zhang and Ryan Mather, Poetry Camera is a camera that writes poems about what it sees. Using this unique technology as a platform for discussion, participants will be invited to push the boundaries of portraiture. Participants will be guided through exercises to create their own experimental prompts, using the Poetry Camera as a platform for the invention. Participants will explore the intersection between art and technology, considering the future of portraiture through the Portrait Gallery’s permanent collections.

The Portrait Gallery strives to provide programs that are accessible to all visitors. If you have questions about the accessibility of this program, or if you would like to request real-time captioning (CART), sign language interpretation, or any other accommodations, please contact Vanessa Jones at jonesve@si.edu. Two weeks advance notice is appreciated for requesting accommodations.
