Event description

Description

The talk will focus on how Blondey has been able to build his brand and create a space for himself in this industry. Touchpoints will center around the development and perception that is pop culture and the way that it can impact artist development.

Matthew Williams

Matthew Williams is the founder of 1017 ALYX 9SM, one of the more recent brands to debut at Paris Fashion Week, and one whose enormous hype is totally justified.

Williams was born in Chicago, raised in Pismo Beach, California, and now lives in Ferrara, Italy (where ALYX’s production takes place). His aesthetic captures the zeitgeist, with 1017 ALYX 9SM referencing security through Matthew Williams’ design innovations and treading a line between luxe streetwear, high fashion, and fetish-esque leatherwear with aplomb.

BLONDEY McCOY

Blondey is a British artist, clothing designer, skateboarder and model, living and working in London. His artwork engages with themes of popular culture, chemical imbalance, and modern-day religion, and has been exhibited internationally. Blondey is represented by Kate Moss Agency. He is set to release the debut collection from his brand THAMES MMXX, formerly known as Thames London.

JO-ANN FURNISS

Jo-Ann Furniss is an editor, creative director, and writer. She was Editor-in Chief of Arena Homme Plus from 2004-2011. She has worked on various publications including i-D, The Face, Sleazenation and Another Magazine. Furniss has also contributed features to The Independent newspaper, The New York Times, Style.com, Vogue Hommes International (Japan), Colors, Dazed and Confused and Love Magazine.
