In Conversation with Baldwin

Join us for an evening of powerful storytelling and reflection as writers Tara Coyt, Anita August, and Charles Stephens share how their work has been shaped by the life and legacy of James Baldwin. The event will be moderated by cultural critic Cinque Hicks and takes place on Tuesday, June 17, from 6:00–7:30 PM at the Auburn Avenue Research Library in Atlanta, Georgia.

Each writer will read a short excerpt from their recent work and take part in a thought-provoking conversation led by Hicks, exploring Baldwin’s ongoing influence on contemporary literature and their own creative practices.

This program is a standalone event within Hambidge’s partnership with La Maison Baldwin, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Baldwin’s birth. Each participating writer received a three-week residency to focus on their work.

This event is free and open to the public. Presented with support from the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs and the Auburn Avenue Research Library.
