Commissioning and Clinical Experience of Mobius 3D and Mobius FX

Chris Nelson, Ph.D.Christopher Nelson, Ph.D., UT MD Anderson Cancer Centers, Regional Care Centers

The MD Anderson Regional Care Centers in Houston consist of four comprehensive oncology care centers catering to the patients who live on the periphery of Houston.  This model allows MD Anderson quality care to patients without having to commute into the Texas Medical Center.  Across four centers, we have seven Varian Linear Accelerators and four Nucletron HDR units.

Our group has implemented Mobius FX as our primary method of patient specific, pre-treatment IMRT and VMAT QA.  In addition to this, we have implemented Mobius 3D as our secondary MU check replacing an older version of hand calculation software.  This presentation will discuss our clinical experience using both Mobius 3D and Mobius FX.

Elements Multiple Metastases Commissioning and the role of Mobius3D and FractionLab

David JollyDavid Jolly, MSc - Medical Physicist at Epworth Healthcare, Melbourne Austalia

Epworth Radiation Oncology (ERO) is a part of Epworth Healthcare, the largest not-for-profit private healthcare group in Victoria, Australia. ERO offers a high-end comprehensive service of eternal beam, cranial/body stereotactic treatments and brachytherapy, provided at both metropolitan and regional facilities. ERO has a unique model with open access to radiation oncologists as VMOs (currently over 20), a remote planning capability and a short turn-around from initial consult to the patient’s treatment start date. This presentation will briefly cover the ERO approach to patient specific quality assurance and the key role that transitioning to Mobius3D has played in developing an efficient, scalable and effective QA model, even for complex and novel techniques.

In particular, the role of Mobius as a 3D dose verification tool for BrainLab Elements will be discussed. This is a novel application in early release, used to plan linac based stereotactic treatments of up to 10 brain metastases at a time. The resultant plan is essentially a set of volumetric dynamic conformal arcs, often with small MLC apertures. A treatment of this nature may offer neurocognitive and quality of life advantages over standard whole brain radiation therapy treatments. Commissioning and verification of such a delivery is a challenging task and Mobius3D/FractionLab played a pivotal role in this process.

Clinical Impact at St.Anthony's: 7 ways Mobius is more than an MU score

James I. Monroe, Ph.D. - Medical Physicist at St. Anthony's Cancer Center, St. Louis MO

A Small Clinics Journey Towards 3D Based Plan Second ChecksJames Nunn, MS

James P. Nunn, MS - Medical Physicist/RSO at Lewis Gale Regional Cancer Center, Pulaski VA

Lewis Gale Regional Cancer Pulaski is a community based cancer in Southwestern Virginia. We operate under the LewisGale Market which is part of the HCA Healthcare family of hospitals. Geographically we serve patients in a rural area of Virginia where the drive times for treatments can be upwards of an hour for most patients. We offer full service radiation therapy to our patients which includes IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, and Brachytherapy.

I will be discussing the steps that led us to adopt Mobius 3D and FractionLab as part of our daily workflow. From our early days as a pre-clinical test site to our recent adoption of the Brachytherapy module and the MVP phantom for FX verification. We will share our experiences in adopting this second check technology.
