About this event

Summer Outdoor Drumming!

7:30pm - 8:30 pm on Wednesdays in local parks around Traverse City (see below for locations).

Donation-based (suggested $5 - $25)

Come join in this symphony of sounds and feel connected through a universal pulse.

Through structured improv games, even beginners will find themselves contributing to the collective harmony. Games are progressive during each session with the goal of bringing the whole group together into coherent rhythm. Several different types of hand percussion instruments and frame drums will be available to play with, and attendees may bring their own percussion if desired.

This is a space for exploration, creativity, and communal rhythm-making.

While there is a sequential structure to my offering, you are still invited to come even if you cannot attend the whole hour. Come and go as you need to.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to register or sign up ahead of time?

No, though it is helpful for me to know how many people I might expect. Grab a ticket here, or email me directly jillian.votava@gmail.com

Are kids welcome?

Yes, with supervision. And you know your kids, so if you need to leave early please do so. I reserve the right to ask anyone to leave if they are being disruptive for other people. That said, I will be offering an all-ages, family-friendly version of this in Cedar, MI on Mondays very soon.

It's raining, will we still meet?

Most likely no, as the instruments do not like to get wet. If it is raining with no sign of stopping at 7pm, we are not meeting. If it is misting and clearing up at 7pm, we will meet.
