About the Class:
When you join our Improv Conservatory, you aren't just taking a class. You are joining a community of people who are committed to learning, growing, and having fun together through the study of improvisational theatre. Each season is composed of 12 classes, which will cover everything from how to have fun two person scenes, all the way up to how to construct a long form set that let's you and your teammates shine! A single season should allow a brand new improviser to feel like they have a general understanding of improv. However, the program is designed to help improvisers gain an extremely in-depth understaning of the art form after taking multiple seasons, not through hard study, but through joyful play with other silly gooses.
Completing a season of Improv Conservatory makes improvisers eligible to join Willow Creek's house improv teams including Lady Franklyn and Cool Shoes. Joining a team is not a requirement for, or expected of, conservatory students.
Dates: Class sessions will be Mondays from 6:00 - 9:00 PM at Willow Creek Theatre Company. The first session will be on February 2nd, and the last session will be on April 20th. The following week may be used as makeup sessions in case class has to be canceled for any reason.
As a special bonus, all conservatory students receive free admission to any standard improv show at Willow Creek Theatre that is headlined by a Willow Creek house team (such as Lady Franklyn, Cool Shoes, or Pope Cactus). Depending on the show schedule, that could be as high as a $300 value included free with enrollment.
Registration fees go towards supporing our artists as much as possible. With that in mind, there are no refunds on any payments made.
Financial assistance is available for students to take the class at a reduced cost or at no cost. Please email wctc@willowcreektheatre.org for more information.
