About this event
About the Class:
This 6 session course will provide students with a deep dive into the world of improvised scene work. Whether you're performing short form, long form, or just wanting to get better at communication, scene work is the basis of everything we do together. Built to support the development of new and experienced improvisers alike, this class goes beyond "Yes, and..." and focuses on how to play with, and build off of, your scene partner's ideas to get the most fun out of your scenes.
Scene Work is a prerequisite to take Improv Conservatory: Long Form.
Completing a season of conservatory (both Scene Work and Long Form) makes improvisers eligible to join Willow Creek's house improv teams including Lady Franklyn and Cool Shoes. Joining a team is not a requirement for, or expected of, conservatory students.
Dates: Class sessions will be Mondays from 6:00 - 9:00 PM at Willow Creek Theatre Company. The first session will be on August 18th, and the last session will be on September 22nd. The following weeks may be used as makeup sessions in case class has to be canceled for any reason.
As a special bonus, all conservatory students receive free admission to any standard improv show at Willow Creek Theatre that is headlined by a Willow Creek house team (such as Lady Franklyn). Depending on the show schedule, that could be as high as a $200 value included free with enrollment.
Registration fees go towards supporing our artists as much as possible. With that in mind, there are no refunds on any payments made.
Financial assistance is available for students to take the class at a reduced cost or at no cost. Please email wctc@willowcreektheatre.org for more information.
