About this event
About the Class:
This 6 session course will provide students with an overview of different improvised long forms. (Sets lasting upwards of 20 mins) In early weeks the class focuses primarily on the original long form, The Harold, to provide a basis for long form vocabulary. Then students will touch on a variety of different standard long forms to give them a sense of what's possible for their future improv sets. By the end of this class, students will have a good sense of how to jump into any kind of improv show confidently, allowing them to focus on following the fun on stage.
Scene Work is a prerequisite to take Improv Conservatory: Long Form. You are allowed to sign up for Long Form if you will have completed a session of Scene Work by the time Long Form starts, or have taken improv classes at Willow Creek in the past.
Completing a season of conservatory (both Scene Work and Long Form) makes improvisers eligible to join Willow Creek's house improv teams including Lady Franklyn and Cool Shoes. Joining a team is not a requirement for, or expected of, conservatory students.
Dates: Class sessions will be Mondays from 6:00 - 9:00 PM at Willow Creek Theatre Company. The first session will be on October 6th, and the last session will be on November 10th. The following week may be used as makeup sessions in case class has to be canceled for any reason.
As a special bonus, all conservatory students receive free admission to any standard improv show at Willow Creek Theatre that is headlined by a Willow Creek house team (such as Lady Franklyn). Depending on the show schedule, that could be as high as a $200 value included free with enrollment.
Registration fees go towards supporing our artists as much as possible. With that in mind, there are no refunds on any payments made.
Financial assistance is available for students to take the class at a reduced cost or at no cost. Please email wctc@willowcreektheatre.org for more information.
